Pumpkins, benchmark Test and October Volunteer Schedule

Hello Parents! Sorry this is so late coming out tonight. I was at the high school this evening with my daughter for the Parent-Teen Driver's Ed night. It was a presentation by Zero Fatalities. We all left, very somber, and driving a lot more carefully than probably most of us had when we came that night. Please just remember to always buckle up everyone in your car and put away your cell phone when driving.

Now to 2nd grade happenings. I will be sending out the October volunteer calendar in an email and will also post it here at the end of the post. This month will go by quickly for us "D" trackers with Fall Recess and going off track the end of October. 

Pumpkins

A note came home yesterday about our Pumpkin unit starting next week. We will be doing many fun activities and experiments with the pumpkins sent to school. We will be dividing into 5 groups as we do these. Your child's name will be put on them when sent to school, and they will be returned at the end of the week. Please don't send in any HUGE pumpkins. We just need medium and small ones. Thanks so much for your help with this.

Math benchmark #1

We will be taking the first math Benchmark test on Thursday. Please make sure that your child is there on that day. It would be helpful if they get to bed early the night before, have a good breakfast, and come ready and happy that day. They have been working hard in math and I feel confident that they will all do very well.
